Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic application of hypnosis, which is a dream-like state, a bit like daydreaming, that occurs when the brain is operating in alpha frequency. While in this relaxed, but focused, state it becomes more possible to make suggestions that will be accepted by the subconscious mind.
Why is that important? Because it is the subconscious mind that controls our actions and reactions. Despite our belief that we are conscious beings, neuroscientists state that 95%-99% of our daily activity is controlled by the subconscious mind without any involvement of our consciousness.
Most of our subconscious programs were created in our early life and are based on fear - fear of not being loved or lovable, fear of not being good enough, and fear about what other people think of us. Dr Bruce Lipton, a prominent molecular biologist, author and presenter, tells us that hypnotherapy (and EFT) are the only ways to overcome this subconscious programming.
In hypnotherapy the practitioner gently initiates a sense of deep relaxation which enables the mind to slip into the alpha frequency, the realm of the subconscious mind but, instead of simply daydreaming, specific beneficial goals are introduced, such as improving confidence and self esteem, improving performance, overcoming phobias and fears, eliminating limiting beliefs, strengthening the body's own innate healing capabilities, etc.
